Longitudinal Cracks – Run the length of the pavement.
Alligator/Map Cracks – Their cracking pattern resembles alligator skin or a roadmap
Crack Sealing Process:
Contamination in a pavement crack can cause poor sealant adhesion. A heat lance is used to remove dust, gravel, and other remnants from the crack. This creates a better bonding surface for the crack sealer.
Overbanding is the final step in the process which finishes or seals the crack to prevent water penetration.
